Am I the only one who's cap has never leaked (after 36K miles)?

Almost 20k and no leaking. My PCV valve has started to sweat though, but I plan to replace it with a catch-can soon. I did put on the updated oil cap like 2k ago for no other reason except I had one.

I make sure to keep the cap sealing surface and the mating surface clean. This allows for a better seal. If you are just removing the cap and twisting it back in you're doing it wrong. :)

16 R, VWR cap, still weeps haven't cleaned it yet. just noticed it this morning on my short drive to work, but suspect high crank case pressure. was running late, drive was,..spirited. also stage 2 APR, this time i smelled burning oil when stopped at a signal, could have been the beat up truck I was behind.

27k spirited miles at stage1 and no leaks. I do my own oil changes and my attn to detail is fairly high, not sure if that helps versus a tech just tossing the cap back on after a quick oil change without cleaning/inspecting.

Haven't had any leaks or "breathing" around the cap since installing the Tiguan oil fill extension.

Well aren't you just special. Would you like a gold star?

I'll take a gold star also thanks. 92 K and no leaks or seepage. 😂

Having read about this problem shortly after buying my car I got 4 viton o rings at a hardware store just in case.

Ran into this thread and seems possible with our 2017 gti. Some (arguable what “some” means…pic is about 3-4”) oil appearing on garage floor. Snooping around engine I noticed the cap is rather wet, with clear rundown. Scares the crap out of me because you know…the last thing we need. The floor pic is from a couple times parked (nearly identical drips). Other pic shows oil rundown below cap.

Opinions? Going to get new cap today, and also ordered Vito’s rings. Concerned this might be more :/

Dude, if you’re right I’ll be stoked. I’ll get the new cap today
That thing isn't even on. Yeah replace it. No need for extra rings. Some diluted Simple Green spray down couldn't hurt either.

Update: Update to new $20 VW cap (with yellow) today. No leak. For backup, I just bought the o-rings. Now it's more snug. I can't thank this thread ENOUGH! MANY THANKS!

Some of the parts so cheap nowadays. We already went through a cracked (plastic) oil pan due to road debris. Luckily for us it only dumped the majority of the oil in our garage.

Well, that was short-lived. Oil leak is back. As I inspected closer, I realize the bad news is one of the little “nubs” that enables the cap to firmly lock down has broken off. From what I can gather online, it’s yet another piece of crap plastic that is part of the entire timing cover.

Anyone have that experience? What would be the labor costs on that?
