Is it possible to put ambient led light above the glove box?

Hi, I'm here from Spain, I just bought a 7.5 gti golf (I have to upload photos to present it) and I'd like to put that light in the same way as in the front doors (I'd also like to put it in the rear doors). But I haven't found anything on Aliexpress

Thanks

If you're really considering the rears, use this link as it has both the glovebox and rears in red for your GTI
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002665190222.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.493f18028tT55U

I've purchased this one a while back. Though for me it is still a work in progress because there is never enough hours in a day.

terminals for the rear door connectors:

Seller that Cuzoe linked only has red above glove box but the rears only came in white or blue.

Good catch, didn't even realize that. I'm in the RGB game these days, haha.

My laziness is really impacting my motivation to do the rear doors. The door pockets are easy of course, but the trim... ugghhh.

Thanks guys, do you know if there is any assembly tutorial?

Not really. But the closest one to one is the wireless RGB kit installation tutorial that IWMTom wrote in this post

Post #3 gives you a good idea of the dash trim parts and what you have to alter.

I've done mine already with the rear door ones in progress. I ended up finding out too late that my BCM didn't have pins for ambient lighting so I just tied it to the front passenger footwell light circuit and plan to do the same for the rear doors as well.

Wanting to do this to my GTI on the front dash, but not sure if the RED light would become annoying or distracting after a while.
However the best option i imagine would be to get a trim from a crashed GTI and then retrofit the aliexpress kit into it. Only thing would need to order oem LED module to make it as oem red as possible as ive heard from someone on FB groups stating the aliexpress led module is a tad dimmer compare to the doors. Aside that, any 12v +/- shoulf be enough to power it up from a foot well light.

So I finally finished my install. Overall, I feel positive with the results.

I essentially followed HumbleMechanic for all the steps needed to disassemble to get to the coupling point for rear left/right doors to add the wires and terminals.
This should be the goto video for running new wires, whatever you need it for, through the rear door coupling points.

Also, I've attached my marked up version of one of MK7 wiring diagrams to show how I've connected it all.
Because I've done the rear footwell lighting and it came with a harness, I spliced into those wires instead of the OEM front footwell LED wires. If you have not gotten rear footwells, just splice directly into the front footwell wiring. The only OEM wiring I had to splice from was the window regulator motor negative power wire as I didn't want to bother with adding an earth terminal connection. See attached PDF.

Has all the parts and the Aliexpress listings that I purchased from.

The fit and finish is, okay... isn't as perfect as the original silver trim without ambient lighting.

Do note, you only need to shave off the seven (7) large grommets to get to release the trim to add the ambient lighting. Near the door pull handle are clips, there is no way to access the tabs these clips hold onto so be careful as you simply must pry. If you break a clip, the trim won't stick back tight to the door card.
