As a previous turbo owner I know it is wise to let it idle for a minute or so after hard running. is it still advisable after normal around town driving?

I have 2016 gti se manual I find it difficult to heel/toe due to the large gap between the brake and the gas. On my terminator cobra all I had to do was give the gas pedal a yank to the left and I was good to go. Any ideas?,Links?:
