What did you do to your mk7 today?

Took my GTI in for its second annual service. Also got two new tyres - Contisport Contact 5 to match the existing Contisport Contact 2 that are only half worn - new tyres on the back wheels, with the part worns now on the front. There wasn't much difference in price compared to the fast fit...

What Cell Phone Are You Rocking?

Had 2 iPhones - 3GS & 4S, but once the contract was up on the 4S thought I'd try Android on the recommendations of a colleague who had the phone I was considering - Xperia Z3 Compact. Having a memory card slot is great, I get a good 4G signal in my home town and the camera is brilliant. I had...

    Old School!

I remember seeing these wheels on a VW Polo (maybe a Golf) back in the early 90s. What I didn't realise is that you can still buy them new :D http://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels/wheel/index.html?wheel=ronal_urs_teddy_ss&colour=silver

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Had my first annual service - no extra work needed, no software updates, and no money handed over by me :D (I have a service plan, so technically had already paid for the service)

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Gave my car a long awaited detail after the winter. Snowfoam, followed by 2 bucket method wash and then a couple of coats of Collinite 476 wax. Also tried the popular transparent bonnet mod :D

What did you do to your mk7 today?

So, maybe I should have left the winters on a little longer.... (Although the Contisport 2's worked ok on the slightly snow covered roads this evening)

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Put my car back to 'Summer' mode by removing my winters & refitting the Austins - maybe slightly early, but I don't think we'll get much more snow this winter, and I thought I would save some wear on my winter tyres. I also discovered what the alarm sounds like as it started sounding when I...

What car did you pass your driving test in?

I passed in 1988, 6 months after my 17th birthday in a 1982 X Reg Ford Escort MK3 1.3L, which was my mum's car. Got my own car the following May - a Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus (1983 Y)

    which watch do you wear?

I have a few watches - some expensive, most relatively inexpensive. This was most of my collection a few months ago, sorted in order of value from top-left. 1. Oris Chronoris Grand Prix 1970 limited edition of 1970 pieces - 1970 was the year I was born, and I got this for my 40th birthday. I...

    Parking Sensor False Alarm

Had a weird parking sensor alert this evening when coming home from work - I was sitting at a T junction as a street sweeper truck crossed in front of me, and the front parking sensors went crazy - solid beep & red sectors on the display. What was particularly strange was that I was sitting...

    Golf GTD estate announced

Just noticed on the Facebook page of my VW dealer, that VW have announced the launch of a GTD estate - seems to be same spec as the current hatch. Apparently launches in the summer along with the Golf R estate. Can't say I'm surprised, and I'm sure it will sell very well.

What car does your partner drive?

My wife doesn't drive, but she swayed my choice to the GTI instead of the A3 I was almost certain I was going to buy.

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Fitted my winter wheels & tyres today that I'd kept from my previous A3. They fit fine although they look a little small compared to the Austins. Ride quality is better, but steering is a little more vague - they worked well on my A3 so hoping they'll be just as good on the GTI Tyres are...

    Registration Plates in various Countries

The UK numbers currently work like this, with number plates having two letters, two numbers, three letters XX99ZZZ The 'XX' part identifies which part of the country the car was registered, so some of my recent cars (before I got my private plate) were 'SP', which identified them as being...
