While most of the type 2 cases we hear about are self inflicted, there is that subset where genetics come into play. Diabetes recently has gotten a bad rep because all you hear is that it is self inflicted and most bystanders don't understand the difference, so they tell people to lose weight and watch their carb intake - which works for many type two, but not for type 1 or the "genetic" type 2.

Of related interest - a recent study has shown that the average weight gain during the past pandemic year is - wait for it - 29lbs.

Question - I lost 10lbs over the last year. Does that mean that I really lost 39?
